Popcorn Ceiling Removal

When getting rid of popcorn ceilings, we tarp and mask all the affected rooms with 4mm plastic covers to protect the floors. We also drape the rooms – from floors to ceilings – with 1mm plastic to enclose the work area. We then lay another layer of 1mm plastic over the floors and walls to catch any debris that might fall from ceilings when it’s being removed. This extra layer of plastic is then rolled up and removed before taping commences. Once all that is done, we repair any visible damages before applying another coat of topping on all nails and joints. This is then followed by giving the walls a new finish or texturing so that they match. We also provide painting and sealing if needed. Stain-locking sealers are essential as they help ensure that the ceiling doesn’t bleed through or stain.

Acoustic ceilings installed before 1978 must be tested for asbestos by a professional, licensed lab. It’s worth noting that any ceiling that tests positive for the substance will have to be removed by a certified asbestos abatement contractor. Having your ceiling tested for asbestos is quite simple and relatively inexpensive; all you have to do is take a sample and send it to a licensed lab for testing. You should have your results in a few days.
